| Celebrating the Spirit of the 1920s... and Sunshine Arts! Dec 09 2011 |
||||
|
November 10th was the night of the big event and we were so excited that we opened our doors early for guests as anxious as we were to begin our celebration of the Roaring Twenties. Attendees were greeted by hostesses dressed in authentic 1920s outfits while Mr. Craig Satchell, Ms. Patty Leswing, and Mr. Kenny Taylor flooded the entrance way with the enchanting music of the Jazz Age. Flappers, gangsters, daddies, and dolls paraded across the ornate chambers of the CITYSPACE location. Chef Brian Buscham served exquisite food while Ms. Anna Deych and Mr. Jack Morley provided service at the speakeasy wine bar. Guests perused the fine items up for auction, observing paintings, photos, pottery, gift baskets, and more. Mr. Todd Kimmel of the Grand Review took the stage for the exciting live auction of our ritziest items. Our honored guests, Mrs. Cindy Heckscher and Mrs. Ann Reid, shone like stars when they accepted our expressions of gratitude for their unceasing support and responded with an unexpected show of appreciation. Mrs. Heckscher and Mrs. Reid had enlisted help of Ms. Kat Lehmer, resident artist and filmmaker, to create a video starring Sunshine Arts' founder, Ms. Sheila Modglin, and several of the children who come to Sunshine Arts. The children interviewed Ms. Modglin about the organization's history and revealed the early hopes and dreams that led to Sunshine Arts' founding and growth. We want to thank everyone who attended, volunteered, and donated for an amazing night and fundraiser. We hope we've paid homage to our honored guests, our friends and supporters, and the glowing spirit of the art-filled 1920s. |
